Makespace Visual Identity
The team at Makespace Oxford required a new visual identity that would authentically represent their change-making attitude.
Makespace’s mission is to create truly affordable workspaces for community-led and socially-driven organisations. In 2018 they started with one building in north Oxford and by 2020 they had launched a programme to fill vacant spaces across the whole county called ‘Meanwhile in Oxfordshire’.
The work we created tunes into the heart of Makespace’s ‘people over profit’ sentiment and the ethics behind a systems change mentality.
The aesthetic was achieved by using dynamic abstract geometry typical of early 20th century left-leaning revolutionary design combined with a halftone image treatment to represent the DIY mentality of a lot of Makespace’s residents.
