Expired Film Club

Retro branding with a modern twist

Bounce were super happy when Miles from Expired Film Club requested a refresh to the visual identity for his wildly popular social media business. Expired Film Club celebrate film photography by sharing tips and techniques, whilst inspiring others by posting about his adventures using expired film. The business has an important commercial element, selling expired film and vintage film cameras, so creating a website that streamlined the sales process and user experience was a key element of the project.

With a following of over 1.5 million on Tiktok and over 350k on Instagram it’s fair to say this was a big change for the brand that the client was nervous about, we are really grateful to Miles for trusting us in this process. The brand evolved more than he was expecting at the start of the project, and we’re really proud of the finished visual identity.

The logo is inspired by the idea of exposure in photography, each letter was meticulously redrawn to create a gradual increase in exposure from left to right, this effect creates a sophisticated and iconic wordmark that’s befitting of the brand. The visual identity is united by a grainy yellow and orange gradient, which is influenced by the blemishes and artefacts that appear on photographs when using expired film.
